GOYA NEWS

(Greek Orthodox Youth of America)

The GOYA of St. George is a group of young people from middle and high school that gather monthly to plan events and, in most cases, to participate in either a fundraiser or social activity.  The activities of the GOYA are included in the activity schedule of the parish and Sunday School as well since same young people participate in all of these functions.

More information about GOYA can be found by calling the church at 413-737-1496 or by checking out the "Church Bulletin" for more information.

JOY

(Junior Orthodox Youth)

From 12 noon to 2:30 on one Saturday each month, young people in elementary school will have the opportunity to participate in the ever-expanding JOY ministry.

Lunch will be served to begin the program but activities and discussion will soon follow.

Coming off the heels of our very successful Vacation Church Camp, it's hoped that parents will see the benefit in the JOY ministry as well and allow their children the chance to spend an afternoon once per month with Fr. Chris and the JOY advisors.

H.O.P.E.

(Helping Orthodox Parents Educate)

The point of the HOPE ministry is to provide young parents with the resources and support they need to be good and Christian families.

Most events are social and educational in nature with some guest speakers occasionally joining us.

More information about HOPE can be found by calling the church at 413-737-1496 or by checking out the "Church Bulletin" for more information on upcoming events.

St. George Greek School

With a culture, language and traditions as rich as those of ancient and modern Greece, the St. George Greek School exists for the purpose of perpetuating those ideals for future generations to know and observe.

Meeting each Monday from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Greek School is broken into three groups - beginners, intermediates and advanced learners- with each focusing on various aspects of the culture. The curriculum is based not so much on age as much as the child's ability to grasp the language.

For more information on the program, please call the church at 413-737-1496
