The St. George Cathedral Greek School program connects children and adults to their rich heritage, faith, and community through the power of modern conversational Greek. We use advanced learning technology, specialized books, and interactive digital tools to make learning Greek engaging and accessible.

Our Teaching Philosophy

We believe students learn best when they are active, engaged, and having fun. Our curriculum focuses on oral communication, building confidence, and practical usage. Students learn through interactive dialogues, traditional games, music, and cultural storytelling.

Greek School Program (Youth & Adults)

In keeping with our vibrant multi-lingual world, the Greek School at St. George Cathedral offers modern conversational Greek classes. Our mission is to not only pass down the beautiful Greek language but to deeply strengthen our community's Hellenic-Christian ties. Whether you or your child do not speak any Greek at all, our immersive environment is designed to build immediate confidence.

Youth Program (Grades 1–6)

Our youth curriculum steps away from rigid memorization to bring the language to life through culture, connection, and interactive learning.

  • Step 1: Alphabet & Phonetics: We begin with the absolute foundation. Students learn to master the Greek alphabet, letter combinations, and pronunciation rules while building active listening skills through music and games. 

  • Step 2: Sight Word Vocabulary: Using the specialized Greek 123 curriculum, children build an immediate vocabulary base by mastering basic sight words, including numbers 1–100, colors, foods, animals, and family relationships. 

  • Step 3: Cultural Storytelling: Kids absolutely love stories! We heavily incorporate Greek history tales, cultural narratives, and the beautiful stories behind major Orthodox feast days to expand their vocabulary and love for heritage. 

  • Step 4: Conversational Books: Once students finish their first introductory text, they seamlessly transition to our Conversational Greek books to practice real-world peer dialogues and sentence structures.
Youth Class Schedule and Format
  • Day & Time: Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM (2.5 Hours). 
  • Social Break: Includes a mid-morning 15-to-20 minute snack break where kids can rest and socialize. 

  • Digital Classrooms: Lessons leverage an interactive smart board. Students are encouraged to bring their laptops or tablets to class to log in and complete interactive homework assigned through the Greek 123 platform. 


New! Adult Conversational Class

It is never too late to learn! We are proud to offer a practical, welcoming 2-hour conversational class for adults held on Saturdays immediately following the youth classes. No previous experience with Greek is required!

  • Adult Focus: Adults fast-track their learning by mastering the alphabet, pronunciation, core vocabulary (numbers 1–100, family, food, colors), and travel-ready conversational dialogue. 

  • Adult Materials: Tailored adult conversational books are paired with vibrant discussions on Greek cultural history, identity, and traditions. Adults are also welcome to bring their laptops or tablets for interactive exercises.

Tuition, Materials, and Registration

Tuition for the 2026–2027 school year is $100.00 per child whose parents are not members of St. George Cathedral. Children whose parents are members of St. George are not required to pay the tuition fee.

Tuition for the 2026–2027 school year is $150.00 per adult.

Each student (youth and adult) is required to purchase the Greek classroom text books.
